Sandblasting back to bare, clean steel

Robo Door sandblasts steel in-house before repair, galvanising, priming or powder coating, removing rust, scale, old paint and contamination so the next coating bonds to clean metal. Sandblasting is used on new fabrication, refurbished gates and fencing, and customer-supplied steelwork. It is preparation; the finishing system is quoted separately.

A durable finish depends on the surface underneath it.

Powder coat, primer and other coatings cannot perform properly over loose rust, scale, failing paint or contamination. Abrasive blasting takes the surface back to clean metal and creates a consistent substrate for the next stage of the finishing process.

Where sandblasting is used

• Preparation of new steelwork before finishing
• Refurbishment of gates, fencing and other fabricated items
• Removal of old paint and surface contamination
• Preparation of third-party steelwork before an agreed coating process

Blasting is preparation, not the finished product.

Once the item is clean, the next treatment must be selected for the material and exposure. That may include galvanising, primer, powder coating or another specified system. The finishing scope is quoted separately so the customer knows exactly what is being applied after blasting.
