Installed or Supply-Only (DIY)? Robo Door Options Compared

Supply-only is available in all 12 markets. Our own teams install in South Africa and Zambia, and the Robo Door distributor installs in most other markets. Installed, Robo Door measures, makes, fits, adjusts and carries the workmanship. Supply-only, the product is made to the measurements you give, then collected or delivered with fixing instructions for you or your contractor to fit. The quote form asks which you want.

What installation includes

The site visit and measuring, manufacture, delivery, fixing to the frame or reveal, adjusting tracks and locks, testing automation and safety devices, removing the old gate where agreed, making good, key handover and a walk-through of the maintenance routine. Improper installation by others, such as dragging a gate across paving or leaving mortar on the coating, is a warranty exclusion, and installation by Robo Door takes that risk off your side of the table.

What supply-only includes

Manufacture to the accepted measurements, the fixings and fittings the product needs, and written fixing instructions. Collection from the Alrode or Lusaka factory, or delivery by arrangement. For products that need it, Robo Door can still do the measuring on the free site visit and hand you the product to fit, which removes the biggest DIY risk: a product made to the wrong size.

Measuring for supply-only

Measure the clear opening width and height at three points each and give the smallest. Note the frame material, which way a door must open or stack, and anything in the way on the stacking side. Photograph each opening. Robo Door's quoting team checks the sheet before manufacture and will ask if a dimension looks wrong, but the accepted measurements on the quotation are what the product is made to, and made-to-measure orders cannot be cancelled once production starts. Warranty differences

The manufacturing warranty is the same either way, because it covers the product Robo Door made. The paint and rust warranties are the same, provided the coating is not damaged during your installation and the maintenance routine is kept. The Break-In Repair Guarantee on Deluxe and Deluxe Fixture requires installation by Robo Door or an authorised installer, so a DIY-fitted Deluxe product keeps its ten-year manufacturing warranty but not the break-in cover. That is usually the deciding factor for a front door or a patio slider.

Cost

Supply-only removes the installation line from the quotation. It does not change the product price, the finish or the payment terms. In South Africa those terms are seven-day validity, 70% deposit and 30% on delivery, or 7% off for paying upfront. In Zambia it is 80% deposit and 20% on delivery, or 7% off upfront. In the other markets the terms are set on your quote. In South Africa trellis doors start from R3,500 and burglar bars from R1,000; the anchors are the same whichever option you pick, and the quotation shows the installation line separately so the comparison is easy.

How to choose

Front door, patio slider or anywhere the Break-In Repair Guarantee matters: installed.
Automated driveway gates, fencing, shutters, strongrooms and balustrades: installed, or a contractor you trust.
Window bars and Robo Clear on a house you are renovating yourself: supply-only is practical.
Outside the areas Robo Door's own teams reach: supply-only with Robo Door measuring where possible.
