Cottage Pane follows a traditional grid. Spanish has a bowed, wrought-iron look. Custom Welded follows your own pattern.

Fixing matters

How well the bars hold depends on the frame or wall around the window and how they are fixed to it.

Finish

Powder coating, sandblasting and primer, electroplating or hot-dip galvanising: the finish sets how long the paint and rust cover lasts where you live. The warranty page has the table.

Which burglar bars do you need?

• A plain, permanent barrier inside the window: fixture bars, in four grades from Econo to Deluxe.
• A pattern that suits the house: welded bars, in Spanish, cottage pane or your own design.
• Bars you can see through: Robo Clear, for inside or outside windows.
• The lowest price for a plain steel bar: Econo Burglar Bars.

Fixed bars do not open. On rooms people sleep in, keep one window clear as a way out. Burglar bars start from R1,000, including VAT.
