Which finish for a southern suburbs gate

Johannesburg South is inland, so rust is less of a worry. A sheltered doorway only needs sandblast, primer and powder coat, with a three-year paint warranty. A gate out in the open, or one hit by sprinklers, is better hot-dip galvanised under the powder coat, which adds five years of rust cover.
