Three families. Fixture burglar bars are fitted inside the window reveal. Welded burglar bars are one-piece fabricated panels. Security bars are Robo Clear polycarbonate, which keeps the daylight and the view, and slim Econo steel bars.

Which burglar bars?

• Fixed (fixture) bars: trellis-style channels and uprights fitted on all four sides of the reveal. Econo, DuPlus (all steel), Deluxe and Alu-Deluxe (aluminium, for the coast). See fixture burglar bars.

Fixed bars do not open. Plan the escape route before anything is made, look at bedrooms and other occupied rooms together, and keep one window free of bars.

Where Robo Clear works

The product specification puts it at about 200 times tougher than glass. It suits inside and outside windows in all climate conditions, and we cut it to any size your window needs. Clean it with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, never abrasives or ammonia cleaners.

Burglar bars for aluminium windows

Fixture bars are fixed on all four sides inside the window reveal. Near the sea, Alu-Deluxe Fixture is all aluminium and carries a 10-year Alu-Deluxe Fixture manufacturing warranty. Who fits them

In Gauteng our own team measures and fits; elsewhere in South Africa the Robo Door location for your town does, and in Zambia our Lusaka team. In other markets the Robo Door distributor fits, or we supply for your own fitter.

Finish and warranty

Steel bars can be powder coated, sandblasted and primed, electroplated or hot-dip galvanised. The paint warranty runs from one to five years depending on the finish, and galvanising adds rust cover of up to ten years inland.

Econo Burglar Bars carry a 5-year manufacturing warranty. Deluxe Fixture carries 10 years plus a 5-year Break-In Repair Guarantee, and Alu-Deluxe Fixture carries 10 years. Robo Clear Burglar Bars carry a 5-year product warranty on the polycarbonate. The full table is on the warranty page.
