How the Robo Door site visit and quotation work, step by step

Installation and setup

Enquire, get measured free, receive a written quotation valid seven days, accept with a deposit, and Robo Door makes and fits the product. Here is each step.

Updated September 2026 by Delene Fortoen, Operations, Installation Coordination & Customer Service.

Enquire by form, WhatsApp or phone. Robo Door books a free site visit, measures every opening and rates the site's zone and exposure. A written quotation follows, itemised per opening and valid for seven days. Accept in writing with a deposit (70% in South Africa), or pay upfront for 7% off, and the product is made to measure and installed or supplied.

Step 1: the enquiry

The website form asks for your name, surname, city, phone, email and whether you want installation or supply-only, with room for an optional message. That is enough to book a visit. WhatsApp +27 82 888 1919 and the office line 082 888 1919 do the same job, and photographs of the openings sent by WhatsApp help the measurer arrive prepared. Zambian enquiries go to the Lusaka team on +260 97 543 2222.

Step 2: the free site visit

The site visit is free and carries no obligation. The measurer records, for every opening on your list:

  • Clear width and height, and the frame material for fixing
  • Stacking or swing space beside doors and sliders
  • Threshold, floor level and drainage where a track will sit
  • Fixing surfaces: steel, aluminium, timber or masonry
  • Exposure: sheltered, semi-exposed or fully exposed to rain and sprinklers
  • Corrosion zone: A inland, B coastal suburb, C within 500 metres of the sea
  • Power and cabling for any automation or access control
  • Escape routes, so locked barriers still let the household out

Tell the measurer about sprinklers, pool chemicals and the sea. Undisclosed coastal or fully exposed positions are a warranty exclusion, and the visit is the moment to get them on paper.

Step 3: the quotation

The quotation arrives in writing and is valid for seven days from issue. It is itemised per opening, so you can accept all of it or phase it, and every line states:

LineWhat it tells you
Product line and materialEcono, DuPlus, Deluxe or Alu-Deluxe; steel or aluminium; Robo Clear where chosen
Measured openingThe dimensions the product will be made to
Finish, zone and exposureThe finish, from plain powder coat to hot-dip galvanising, and the site rating that sets the paint and rust warranties
Locking and hardwareNumber of locking points, lock type, access-control preparation
AutomationMotor, battery backup and safety devices on driveway gates, on their own terms
Installation or supply-onlyWhat Robo Door does on site, or what is delivered for DIY
WarrantyThe named manufacturing warranty, and the Break-In Repair Guarantee on Deluxe and Deluxe Fixture
Payment termsDeposit, balance, upfront discount; South African prices include VAT at 15%

South African prices are quoted in rand and include VAT at 15%. Trellis doors start from R3,500 and burglar bars from R1,000; security gates are custom-quoted to the opening.

Step 4: acceptance and payment

An order becomes binding when you accept in writing, Robo Door confirms in writing and the deposit is received. In South Africa, standard terms are 70% on order and 30% on installation or delivery. Pay 100% upfront and a 7% settlement discount applies, calculated on the list subtotal before VAT and shown VAT-inclusive on the quotation. Finance, in South Africa only, is available over three months interest-free with an admin fee, or up to 24 months with the first three months interest-free; apply by SMS to 33130 with your ID number and gross monthly income. The website never handles that application. In Zambia the terms are 80% deposit and 20% on installation, or 7% off upfront, with no finance. In the other markets the terms are set on your quote.

Step 5: manufacture

Trellis doors, security gates and burglar bars are made in Robo Door's Alrode factory for South Africa and the Lusaka factory for Zambia, to the measured dimensions on the accepted quotation. Made-to-measure orders cannot be cancelled once production starts; a pre-production cancellation may carry an admin or design fee. Delivery dates are estimates and are confirmed with you before installation day.

Step 6: installation day or collection

Installed, Robo Door's team fits the product, adjusts tracks and locks, tests any automation, hands over keys and walks you through the maintenance routine. Supply-only, the product is collected from the factory or delivered with fixing instructions; Robo Clear bars come as a complete kit with one-way screws or rivets, caps, washers and a guide. Report any visible defect within three calendar days.

After installation

Keep the quotation and invoice. Wash twice a year, lubricate every six months, touch up chips within 30 days, and photograph the work with a date. Those photographs are your maintenance record if a warranty claim is ever needed; Robo Door assesses claims within ten working days.

How to get the most out of the visit

  • Have your opening list ready, with escape routes marked
  • Decide which openings must stay open by day
  • Know your colour preference so the finish and colour go on the quotation
  • Say whether you want installation or supply-only
  • Ask for two quotations if you are weighing Econo against Deluxe; the warranty difference is the point

Next step

The visit is free and most quotes go out the same day. Request a free quote, WhatsApp +27 82 888 1919 or call 082 888 1919.
