Robo Door Warranty Explained: Product by Product

Robo Door gives four warranties, each tied to a named product, a finish or a corrosion zone. Manufacturing cover runs two, five or ten years by product line. The five-year Break-In Repair Guarantee applies to Deluxe and Deluxe Fixture only. Paint cover follows the finish; rust cover follows how close you are to the sea. All four are in our terms of sale.

Why the product name matters

A number of years on its own means nothing. Robo Door's ten-year manufacturing warranty belongs to specific products: Deluxe, Deluxe Fixture, Alu-Deluxe, Alu-Deluxe Fixture and Alu-Deluxe Fixture Lite. Every Robo Door quotation names the product line next to its warranty, and this guide does the same.

The manufacturing warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship in the product Robo Door made. It does not cover a gate that was dragged across paving on installation day by someone else, and it does not cover the motor on a driveway gate, which carries its own terms.

2. The Break-In Repair Guarantee (five years)

On Deluxe and Deluxe Fixture only: if a confirmed forced-entry attempt damages components Robo Door made, Robo Door repairs or replaces them. The conditions are practical. A police case number. A written claim within 30 days, with photographs. Access for inspection. The product must have been installed by Robo Door or an authorised installer, properly maintained and not modified. Labour is excluded unless agreed, and it is one claim per incident. It is a repair guarantee, not a promise that the product cannot be broken into: Our terms say plainly that products are supplied as security barriers and do not guarantee against every forced entry.

3. Paint warranty by finish

Exposure is decided at the site visit. A gate under a carport is sheltered. An open driveway entrance is semi-exposed. A garden gate in the open with sprinkler overspray is fully exposed, and the quotation says so.

4. Rust warranty by distance from the sea

Only the zinc-protected finishes carry a rust warranty on the main frame. Hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated steel runs from ten years inland and sheltered down to two years within 500 m of the sea and fully exposed. Electroplated steel runs from five years inland to six months on a fully exposed marine site.

One exclusion is built into the metalwork. Hinges cannot be galvanised, so they are welded on after galvanising and the weld zone is protected with cold-galvanise paint. Those hinge weld points are excluded from the rust warranty and need a yearly inspection.

What you have to do

Wash coated surfaces with mild soapy water and a soft cloth at least twice a year
Lubricate rollers, hinges, motor parts and tracks every six months
Rinse off fertiliser, pesticide, chlorine or sprinkler water within 24 hours
Touch up chips and scratches within 30 days
Inspect hinge welds on galvanised products once a year
For fully exposed coastal installations, an annual professional inspection is recommended

What voids the cover

An undisclosed coastal or marine location. An undisclosed fully exposed position. Improper installation by others, such as dragging the gate or leaving mortar on it. Unauthorised modifications, including drilling a coated gate to add an intercom later. Chemical damage that was not rinsed. Mechanical damage. Normal weathering after the paint period. Non-payment. Tell the quoting team exactly where the property is and what the opening is exposed to, and none of these will surprise you.

How to claim

Write to Robo Door with the quotation or invoice number, photographs and a description of the defect, and confirm the maintenance has been done and nothing has been modified. For a break-in claim, add the police case number and claim within 30 days. Robo Door assesses claims within ten working days, inspects where needed and repairs valid claims at no cost. A dated photograph after each wash is enough of a maintenance record.

Reading a quotation for the warranty

A Robo Door quotation shows the product line, the finish, the zone and exposure assumed for the address, and the manufacturing, paint and rust warranties that follow. If a quotation from anyone says "warranty" without a product name, a finish and a site rating, it has not told you what is covered.
