A job is measured on a free site visit, quoted with seven-day validity, made in Alrode and fitted by Robo Door's installers. Trellis doors from R3,500 and burglar bars from R1,000; all of Gauteng counts as inland for rust.

Johannesburg is inland

Rust risk is low. Mild steel that is sandblasted, primed and powder coated is a sound specification for a sheltered opening, and hot-dip galvanised steel carries a rust warranty of 5 years on a fully exposed garden gate, and up to ten years on a sheltered one. Sprinkler overspray makes an opening fully exposed, so say so at the site visit.

Load-shedding

Driveway gate motors can be fitted with battery backup, an option on the quote, so the gate keeps working through an outage. Batteries are consumables and should be tested at the six-monthly maintenance check.
