Balustrades
Edge protection is a safety detail and an architectural one.
Three related products. Balustrades combine posts, handrails and infill. Railings give a handrail or guard on stairs and ramps. Steel Staircases combine stringers, treads, landings and edge protection into one measured structure.
- Straight, turning and other staircase layouts
- Drawings for review or coordination on complex projects
- Staircases are priced as complete structures, not per metre
- Steel balustrades carry a 2-year manufacturing warranty
Start with the structure and how people use it. A home balcony, a pool edge, an internal staircase and a commercial walkway have different needs for height, spans, fixings and traffic.
Steel, stainless or aluminium?
Mild steel is the most flexible for custom work. Stainless steel gives a metal finish and behaves differently against corrosion. Aluminium is lighter and can suit corrosive sites. Each needs its own cleaning and care.
Infill sets the look
Rods and straight rails give a clean line. Mesh or panels make a more continuous barrier. Decorative detail can match your gates and fencing. Glass or specialist infill is designed and sourced to the project's requirements.
Compliance comes first
Heights, loading, escape routes and approvals depend on the building and its use. They are checked per project before fabrication, not assumed from a category page.
What we measure
Site levels, fixing surfaces, runs, rakes, corners and landings. A staircase's geometry comes from the opening and the floor levels, not from a photo.
What affects the price?
Run length, height, corners and level changes, material, infill, fixing conditions, finish and access.
Finish
Steel can be powder coated, sandblasted and primed, electroplated or hot-dip galvanised; aluminium is powder coated. The paint warranty runs from one to five years depending on the finish, and galvanising adds rust cover of up to ten years inland. The full table is on the warranty page.
